此役皇家隊先發投手維爾奎茲（Edinson Volquez）投5局被敲3安掉兩分，都是非自責分；牛棚楊恩（Chris Young）、史崔姆（Matt Strahm）、索瑞亞（Joakim Soria）、赫雷拉（ Kelvin Herrera）接力4局未丟分，維爾奎茲拿下本季第10勝。
37歲老將楊恩，7月中轉戰牛棚，表現止跌回升，8月6場出賽10局無失分，防禦率是完美的0。但楊恩此役於第6局上場，連續解決兩人次後被敲三安，史崔姆滿壘時登板，順利拿下第3個出局數。
總教練約斯特賽後大讚牛棚，「牛棚表現不凡，史崔姆足以拿下一顆金星。」
此次系列賽皇家隊合計僅拿下6分，28個得點圈打擊機會，僅敲出4安，卻拿下3戰兩勝。
